Service agencies collaborating on family violence issues

September 26th, 2011

The Collaboration of Agencies in Motueka is conducting a development project to assess family violence issues in our community and plan strategies to deal with them.

The project, with funding from the Family Centred Services Fund, aims to:

  1. Assess the current services available to families experiencing family violence in the area,
  2. Assess the trends and needs of the Community in relation to family violence,
  3. Identify any gaps in service delivery and needs of the Community, and
  4. Provide future collaborative strategies that will provide innovative and integrated wrap-around services for families in the area, and that will lead to a reduction of family violence in the Motueka and surrounding areas.

The group of agencies will make another application in April 2012 for funding so that these strategies form part of a funded service delivery.

Later this year, the group will be asking members of the Motueka community to join them in some robust discussions in our world cafe forum in relation to these issues. To begin this project, the group will soon be contacting various agencies in the area. Information will be collected initially by way of questionnaire, to be sent out by the beginning of October.

For more information about this project or offers to help out in any way, please contact Louise Wilkinson at Get Safe Motueka, phone or email .
