Packed tavern for Great Debate 2011
August 24th, 2011
The "Great Debate" was held at the Sprig & Fern Tavern in Wallace St on last night in front of a packed crowd of Motueka residents. The pre-election debate was organised by Our Town Motueka and concentrated largely on issues affecting local people.
The speakers were National's Chris Auchinvole, Labour's Damien O'Connor and the Green's Kevin Hague. The discussions has serious moments of thought-provoking debate and also lighter moments, helped by the debate "referee" John Tamihere. Read Alastair Paulin's account here.
Here's a photo taken at the debate, taken by photographer David Letsche (DavidLetschePhotography.co.nz). It shows some of the crowd (plenty more upstairs), with the three speakers and chairman at the right. There are plenty more great photos taken by David, which can be seen on Sprig & Fern's website.
