Motueka to host Rudolf Steiner celebration event

April 24th, 2011

The Motueka/Nelson Anthroposophical Group is hosting a Celebration of Rudolf Steiner's Life and Work as part of a worldwide initiative for the 150th anniversary of his birth.

The event will take place over the weekend of May 14th and 15th, and the venue will be the Rudolf Steiner School by day and on Saturday evening an informal gathering at the Red Beret Cafe.

Wikipedia defines Anthroposophy as "a philosophy founded by Rudolf Steiner, which postulates the existence of an objective, intellectually comprehensible spiritual world accessible to direct experience through inner development. More specifically, it aims to develop faculties of perceptive imagination, inspiration and intuition through cultivating a form of thinking independent of sensory experience, and to present the results thus derived in a manner subject to rational verification."

The Motueka/Nelson Anthroposophical Group is offering an array of stunning workshops to join in for this weekend of discovery and community, mining from "the wealth of Anthroposophical cultural and artistic impulses", organisers say. It will start with an "Introduction to Anthroposophic Medicine" by Hilda Mazza.

Other workshop topics include "Get Going with Grains" (hands-on preparation of barley, millet, maize, rice, rye, wheat and oats, cooking and eating together, and recipes to take home); "Thinking Outside the Hexagram", "Architecture", "Art workshop - Breathing with Colours", "The use of instruments in Anthroposophical music therapy", "The Healing Qualities of Rhythmical Therapies", "Stroke Drawing", "Organic Public Architecture", and a Biodynamic Talk.

The evening of music and sharing of experiences drawn from Anthroposophy will be at the Red Beret cafe, and admission will be free.

Sunday's sessions will include "Home Remedies", "Get Going with Grains", "Thinking Outside the Hexagram", "Helping the out-of-balance child", and an Art Workshop and Display of Bothmer Gym.

There will be a small charge for coffee and lunch. A one-off donation of $10 for participating in workshops is requested. For pre-bookings for workshops or general enquiries, Fiona Guyan (Ph or Email ) or Anne Perry (528.9978 or )
