Large permaculture event to be hosted at Riverside

The Permaculture in New Zealand (PINZ) national permaculture hui is being hosted this year at Riverside Community, Lower Moutere, on the Easter weekend 23rd - 25th April. The first time in 20 years that the event will be hosted in the South Island.
This is an annual event that brings together a range of like-minded folk from all over Aotearoa and beyond to share skills, inspire each other and grow their ideas into action plans.
Some of the topics of workshops include Biodiesel Technology / Methan Digester, Terraquaculture, Farmageddon (Permaculture as a Board game), and Community Self-reliance. There will also be site visits to local properties, lots of time to network and share ideas, activities for the kids, lots of fun and laughter and delicious local organic food supplied.
One of the orgnaisers, Plorian Pauls, says: "In light of the recent massive earthquakes and natural disasters happening right here in our backyard and overseas, this is a great opportunity for us to come together to harness our ideas and create some strategies towads more sustainable and resilient communities, to be better prepard to handle such an event and to respond with direct action."
Registrations are essential - the closing date for registrations is Friday 1st April. A day registration price will be available for locals who can only attend for a day, which will include lunch.

The word permaculture (for permanent agriculture) was coined in the mid-1970s and refers to the conscious design and maintenance of agriculturally productive ecosystems which have the diversity, stability, and resilience of natural ecosystems.
