Regular budget advice seminars now open to all people

April 8th, 2011
[by Sjors Brouwer,
Budget Advice Coordinator,
Motueka Family Service Centre]

Last Wednesday, April 13th, I held a 2-hour budget advice seminar at the Community Link offices in High Street, for mostly Work & Income clients. It was open to their suggested subjects, there were some lively discussions, but we managed to cover most standard issues where they could do better with their finances.

It was such a success, that it is decided we will make this a regular seminar and run it once every three weeks, on a Wednesday, at Community Link (Work and Income), from 1pm - 3pm, until further notice.

It would help in the organisation if anyone wanting to attend could book in with the reception of Work and Income, or myself at Motueka Family Service Centre, , but is not essential.

Everybody is welcome, and this particularly includes community workers who can use it as an opportunity to pick up tips for clients or to understand what the client can expect if they come to Budget Advice - especially for clients who are a bit shy or do not really want to bare their soul, but rather sit in a crowd and pick up bits that are helpful to them.

Community workers can come together with a client too. The next seminar will be on 4th of May.
