Floral Art Circle preparing for Daffodil Day

June 8th, 2011

Daffodil Day is coming on Friday 26th August, and Motueka Floral Art Circle is once again preparing for its annual floral performances around that date.

The Floral Art Demonstration, in aid of the Cancer Society, will be held on Wednesday 24th August. There will be two performances: an afternoon one at 1.30pm and and evening one at 7.00pm. Each performance will last about 2 hours.

The venue is the Imagine Theatre in Woodlands Avenue, next door to the New World Supermarket. The Floral Art group are most grateful to The Imagine Theatre for their support by allowing them to use the theatre free of charge.

Working to the theme of "Ode to the Daffodil", members and friends of the Floral Art group will be demonstrating floral techniques and creating wonderful designs, interspersed with poetry and music. The guest floral designers this year are Roseanne Armstrong and Jan Holt.

There will be daffodils and other plants for sale and raffles. The evening performance will include a glass of wine or juice and nibbles.

Last year the group raised over $2000 for the Cancer Society and they're aiming to do the same this year. (Read our report and view photos here.) All the proceeds, bar the minimal costs, will go to the Cancer Society. Tickets can be bought at Westrupp's Jewellers, 191b High Street, Motueka or can be reserved by phoning Carol Gowan - , or Shirley Frater - .

The price of the ticket is $15 for the afternoon performance and $20, which includes wine and nibbles, for the evening performance.
