High Street North stormwater pipe to ease flooding
February 14th, 2011
[Tasman District Council press release]
Council will be installing new stormwater pipes in High Street Motueka, north of the shopping centre, to address flooding problems in this area.
Work is expected to commence in late March and take three months, with the new pipe running from Poole Street to Parker Street. Council contractors will also take the opportunity to replace old or damaged sections of the sewer line in High Street and Eginton Street.
David Stephenson, Utilities Asset Engineer, says that during construction some carparking may be lost on the west side of High Street between Poole and Parker Streets, but that residents will be kept well-informed prior to the work.
Further stormwater work in Poole Street is programmed to start later in the year.
Decks Reserve car park resealing
Also scheduled for Council significant maintenance work later in February is the resurfacing of the Decks Reserve car park. The work will take a few days and will involve laying a new chip seal in two sections to only half of the parking area will be worked on at a time. Loose chip will be swept off after the job is complete.
Council's contractor, Fulton Hogan, will contact adjacent businesses and residents at least five days prior to work commencing.
