Ideas and people sought for 2011 Festival of Lights

January 14th, 2011

The time has come for planning to begin on the June 'Festival of Lights', and the committee is asking for ideas to make it even better than last year's event and personnel to help make it happen.

The Motueka Festival of Lights Committee is calling all those with a sense of community - the spirit which is at the heart of the festival. Chair of the 2010 event, Liz Salt, says they are looking for new Committee members to join the 2011 team and for suggestions to make 2011 even better than earlier years.

"Each year has seen it grow and become better known and more popular," says Liz. If you need reminding of the events which took place in 2010, view this page of commentary and photos here.

This year the format will again be the street and shop lights on display for two weeks in June, but with only three days of events.

Liz says that unfortunately she needs to stand down as Chair because being self-employed means that she cannot devote the time to the Festival that it so royally deserves. Some other members of the committee are also standing down for health reasons.

"So, if you have ideas to make the Festival even better, if you are a community group who would like to co-ordinate an event, or if you are a person who believes that you can make a very real contribution to the Committee, then we would love to hear from you," says Liz.

"It's loads of fun, madness and you meet the most amazing people. Looking forward to hearing from you." To contact Liz, phone or email . Or you can send a message or suggestions via this website using the link below.
