'Praise Be' TV show to be recorded in Motueka
January 13th, 2011
An initiative from the Motueka Uniting Church to have an episode of the Sunday morning hymn programme "Praise Be" recorded in Motueka has had a positive response from TVNZ.
On Tuesday February 1st the Peter Averi, the music director of the "Praise Be" programme, and producer Ron Pledger will come to Motueka for a 12 noon meeting with the host St Andrews Uniting Church organisers, and anyone in our district interested in taking part in the programme is invited to attend the meeting during their lunch hour.
The exact dates and times for the March rehearsals and recordings will be finalised at this meeting. Organisers would also like to record other Choral Groups from the district, in their own right, while the cameras are there, so this could be a two-day event.
Uniting Church minister Peter Norman stresses the ecumenical (inter-church) nature of the programme. "We encourage input from all denominations and any choral groups in the district, as this will be very much a Motueka community event.
"Any other interested parties would be very welcome to join us for this meeting, so they feel involved from the outset. The prime purpose of the meeting will be to co-ordinate the ecumenical congregation 'big sing', commence promotion and the selection of hymns and worship songs."
Recording will be sometime in the week commencing March 14 2011. This "Praise Be" special will be linked from Motueka by Chris Nichol and as the 2011 season doesn't start until April, at this stage it probably won't play until Queen's Birthday weekend - 8am on TV One.
Anyone at all interested in attending the February 1 meeting should confirm this with either: John Rimmer ( or ), Peter Norman ( or ) or Catherine Dunkley ( or ).
