July 12th, 2011
[by Kelsey Barrett & Quin Vuiyasawa, Parklands School students]

Q: How long have you been at Parklands School?
A: I have been here for 27 Years.

Q: How has your job changed since you first started as school secretary?
A: Such a lot. There were no computers when I started. Technology has improved systems a lot.

Q: How has the school changed?
A: New rooms have been improved such as the MoTEC building, the new swimming pool and the library. Parklands has a lovely feel to it.

Q: What are the things you have liked about the job?
A: Working with the children, parents and teachers. It has been nice working with such supportive staff.

Q: Have you enjoyed working at Parklands School?
A: Yes, definitely. Parklands is such a nice place to work in. I enjoy seeing parents who used to be pupils now enrolling their children here. Some parents are surprised to see me still working here.

Q: What memories will you take away with you?
A: All the school activities such as book week, swimming sports, camps, galas, school productions, winter sports, sausage sizzles and memories of children having fun and enjoying their school years.

Q: What are your plans for retirement?
A: I will enjoy having time to do things like working on my computer, gardening and reading. My husband and I plan to go wandering whenever we feel like it. There are lots of places in New Zealand to visit or revisit as well as the rest of the world!

Lynda Frater writes:
I will miss all my Parklands friends, but will enjoy keeping in touch with the school.

At the school's farewell celebration, Lynda (the real version, top right)
was surprised at the sudden appearance of all the other Lyndas,
actually junior pupils with face masks. Here are some of them.

husband Scott Inglis, and grand-daughter Emma.
