Get Safe Motueka renews plans for the future
May 6th, 2011
[by Linda Glew]
A presentation setting out the options for the future of the agency Get Safe (Motueka) Inc was given to a large group of attenders at the Community and Whanau meeting on March 2nd. (Read our report here.)
Expressions of support were invited to actively support the future of Get Safe and a meeting was held on 23 March to explore the possible resources for the two options presented earlier in the month.
As a result of both meetings, consultation with the local staff of Get Safe and a meeting with the Chair and Manager of Stopping Violence Services in Nelson, the Board approached two individuals who had put up their hands to join the Board of Trustees for Get Safe.
The current plan is for the two new Board members to be co-opted and the new Board will prioritise the activities in this next phase of rebuilding. The focus will be on budget and contract planning, the recruitment of administrative / operational positions, funding applications and the operation of services.
The Board and staff at Get Safe thank everyone in the communities of Motueka and Nelson who have shown generous support for the agency's future here in Motueka.
