Work begins on next stage of Friendship Hospital

August 4th, 2011

The ground is being prepared for the building of the next stage of the Jack Inglis Friendship Hospital, with volunteers helping with the extraction and delivery of gravel from the Motueka River bed.

With the first stage of the hospital now well bedded in, the time has come to ensure the economic sustainability of the complex by ensuring enough beds are available to provide regular income to cover costs.

An additional wing, adjoining the back of the current hospital and running eastwards, will provide about 28 beds. Jack Inglis says that with minimal operating costs, the waiting list can be reduced which will ensure additional income.
