Congrats to Motueka's Brigette, NZ's Next Top Model

September 3rd, 2011

Motueka people glued to their TVs last night were rewarded when our own Brigette Thomas was crowned New Zealand's Next Top Model.

We all know the story by now. Brigette, 21, until recently a waitress at Celsius Cafe and daughter of well known BeeTees staff member, was among 33 contestants who competed for 13 spaces in the Top Model house during the first episode of the TV3 show's third season in June.

Her former boss at Celsius, Sarah Parkes, paid her $100 to audition for the show in March.

Brigette made it through 10 elimination heats, which entailed many testing assignments and last-minute "tricks" played to give them a taste of real-world modelling, and last night squared off with two other grand finalists.

The prize for the competition was a contract with 62 Models agency, a Ford Fiesta, a one-year contract with CoverGirl cosmetics, an eight-page editorial in Cleo magazine and an all-expenses paid trip to Paris and London to meet Next Model Management.
