Motueka gearing up for visit of two All Blacks
August 3rd, 2011
[TDC press release]
Motueka is laying out the welcome mat for the All Blacks impending visit on 2nd September. Plans are afoot to have as many people as possible meet the two All Blacks coming to town as a part of a country-wide town tour prior to the All Blacks going into camp.
"Often the opportunity to meet any of the All Blacks in the flesh is the preserve of big cities and one that any small town would relish", said Tasman mayor Richard Kempthorne.
"We are working with Sport Tasman, the Tasman Rugby Union and local schools to create a memorable experience, especially for the children who wouldn't normally have the opportunity to meet their heroes in the flesh.
"It will also give these children and the local community the opportunity to pass on their messages of good luck to the team as they head to what many will view as the most important tournament of their careers."
"We thank the New Zealand Rugby Union for making this visit possible in what is an obviously very busy timetable," said Nigel Muir Sport Tasman CEO. "They, and the players, have made a very generous gesture and we will ensure as many Motueka people as possible have the ability to pass on their good wishes for the tournament."
The programme for the visit will be released once it is finalised over the next week.
