The Combined District Choirs of Golden Bay, Motueka and Nelson is looking for new members to join them for another year of learning new choral music and performing it at community concerts around the district.

Interested people are welcome to meet and see the choir at its first meeting for the year on Wednesday 16th February at 7pm, at St. Andrew's Church, next to the Police Station.

The choir will be recording for TV's 'Praise Be' programme on Wednesday March 16th, so the first few practices will also involve rehearsing the hymns to be recorded.

The choir will rehearse weekly until 24th March, in preparation for its first concert season. They will be preparing Handel's 'Four Coronation Anthems' for performance with orchestra later in the concert season.

"It is anticipated that we will give a preliminary performance of two of the anthems with our regular conductor Bill Buck on Sunday 27th March in the Motueka Memorial Hall," says conductor Carl Browning. "We'll then complete the anthems in the following term and move to Nelson Cathedral for a full length concert."
