Johny O'Donnell to speak at global forum
February 2nd, 2011
One of Motueka's budding young politicians, Johny O'Donnell, has been selected to speak as the youth voice at the Global Summit on Corporal Punishment to be held in Dallas, Texas in early June.
"I am incredibly excited about this opportunity and absolutely honoured to have been asked to take up this role at the event," Johny said. You can learn more about Johny's ideas and work by reading this profile.
He also plans to travel on to Washington to visit the National Youth Rights Association in America, aiming to seek examples of successful youth associations overseas and adapt some of their models to New Zealand.
Johny, who is founder and chairman of Students Against Violence Everywhere, is looking for assistance with the costs of the trip through a large fundraising drive, starting with an online donations page.
