T-shirt designer offers 'Best Town' products

January 2nd, 2011

Motueka's recent award as New Zealand's Best Town 2010 has prompted T-shirt designer/photographer Lisa Ball to create a range of shirts advertising the award, providing the first effort at using the award to promote Motueka to tourists and locals.

Lisa, who is also president of the highly respected Motueka Camera Club, has created three designs (so far) and prints them at home onto blank T-shirts on an industrial heat press, to sell around the local markets, as well as on .

"With Motueka becoming Top Town for 2010 I thought I might get in before someone else does and I have done a couple of quick designs for that," she says. She can supply to order with any size or colour on standard fit T-shirts, or fitted T's for women in most sizes and colours.

Lisa has been designing and making T-shirts for a couple of years and selling them in Sunday markets. The previous Motueka Rocks designs feature montages of mostly her original photography.

She used to manage a copy centre in Auckland for eight years, so became familiar with the T-shirt printing process. She uses that knowledge to source the materials and the blank T-shirts, and creates the images via computer which outputs to special paper that can be heat-pressed onto fabric.
