Floral Art enthusiasts test their skills

November 29th

Members of Floral Arts groups from Nelson, Buller and Marlborough were hosted yesterday by the Motueka Floral Art Circle for a day of testing and sharing skills while enjoying fellowship.

Both the interior and surrounding grounds of the Municipal Band room complex were used to assemble and display a wide range of floral art genres. First up, groups of two to four were set up to work on making designs using the same set of materials, and then explained to the others how they went about their designs.

In one area were a group of very up-market sand posies, with sand in containers used for bases (see two photos below). Materials included not only a wide range of flowers but also wire, bush vegetation such as lichen, and twigs.

Some of the challenges were judged, but most were created and viewed within the spirit of sharing and just having fun.
