Community Grants closing next Tuesday

A reminder that applications for TDC's annual Community Grants are closing Tuesday 31 August 2010. All applications must be in by 4:30pm.

Grants are made in the categories of Community and Economic Development Initiatives, Arts/Culture/Heritage, Festivals and Events, Youth/Children, Social Services, Beautification Schemes, Emergency Services, Community Newsletters, and Museums.

The criteria are that the grants provide assistance for Administration costs (limited), One-off projects (not major capital projects), Development costs, Community newsletters, Local histories and Beautification schemes. They are NOT provide for salaries, building or land purchase (and major capital projects); sporting activities, activities which are the responsibility of other funders; or activities that are the responsibility of government agencies (education, health and employment)

The selection process involves a Council assessment committee, made up of local councillors, considering all applications and apportioning available funds accordingly. More detailed guidelines are available with the Application Forms, which can be obtained from Tasman District Council offices and Libraries.
