Locals can benefit from tourism facilities in National Park
August 26
By David Armstrong
Wilsons Abel Tasman has a "Local's Mailing List" that enable it to give Motuekans access to special deals during the quiet times in the tourism calendar.
Although Motueka Online is not intended to publicise commercial and business operations, we think it's of sufficient interest to inform local readers of the mailing list, whereby Wilsons can contact them with special deals when there is excess capacity on their boats and in their Lodges.
If Motuekans would like to be included on that list so you can see what deals are being offered, they can send an email to Lucy Hodgson at or phone 0.
For example, one current special deal (up to October 25th) is a $10 Local Kids Deal. The kids get to bring an adult for $10 also, but if you can't find a child to share your day in the Park, there is still a special price of $35 for an Open Day Cruise & Walk or Beachstop Pass (normally $70).
One interesting innovation recently introduced by Wilsons Abel Tasman is three webcams, which transmit high quality photos of up-to-date conditions to the Wilsons website. Webcams have been installed at Kaiteriteri Beach, Meadowbank Homestead at Awaroa, and onboard the Vista Cruise boat.
Even if you don't need it to prepare for a day outing, web users on broadband will certainly enjoy looking at the record of the day's images up to now, taken every 10 minutes, so using the mouse you can browse in movie style through the weather and tide changes of the day. A very impressive use of technology! The webcam page is at www.abeltasman.co.nz/Webcams
