SolarCity Summer Movie presentation coming to Decks Reserve
December 24th
The outdoor classic cinema evening is returning to Motueka with the SolarCity Summer Movie presentation at Decks Reserve on Friday January 7th.
The Nelson and Tasman District Council-sponsored event starts at 6pm with an "amplified picnic", which promises some fine New Zealand music. TDC's information invites people to "share food with your friends, watch the sunset and as darkness falls let the flicker of the screen transport you. Pack a picnic (BYO OK), bring a rug or your couch, wear warm clothes or your pyjamas and pocket a torch to light your way home."
It's a great chance to hang in the park with your neighbours, enjoy New Zealand music and have some fun with hula hoop, giant chess and draughts, quoits and jump rope. Roger Sanders the Busking Storyteller will be there with his special stories and music from 7pm. Make up a gourmet picnic hamper (BYO OK) and bring your friends. Amplified Picnic is FREE, but remember to bring $2 for adults and $1 for children if staying for the movie.
The movie will not screen if it is raining. If the weather is doubtful please txt: Is it on? to 23 after 7:30pm.
The movie is "Lili", which was first shown in 1953.
Its description says: "Set in a small town outside Paris. Lili stars Leslie Caron as a touchingly naïve French girl. With no family to turn to and stranded in a strange town Lili tags along with the members of a circus troupe, but they have no place for her.
"In her distress she turns to the puppets telling them her sadness and singing her troubles. A crowd gathers around Lili, the circus has a new act. She now has a job, can she find happiness?"
