Opinions sought on improving High Street
November 24th
High Street. Even more than in most other New Zealand towns, this is one strip of road that most residents use and rely on regularly, curse for its congestion and safety concerns, and have an opinion on how its use could be improved.
The Motueka Community Board is publishing a questionnaire on Motueka Online and The Guardian asking residents to indicate their preferences on ideas that have been mooted to make the road safer and easier for all to use, and to make any other suggestions that may help.
Board chairman David Ogilvie wants responses from residents by Monday December 6th, and he hopes as many respondents as possible make the small effort to either cut the advertisement from The Guardian and fill it out, or download and fill in the equivalent on this website (see below). But please, only one response per person.
High Street is controlled by NZ Transport Agency (NZTA), but David wants the results of this survey to be referred to NZTA and to the Tasman District Council. He believes that solid evidence from such a survey could be quoted in future studies and decision making as representing the wishes of the residents.
NZTA's transportation study was made public in May (see details here). Residents' opinions on some aspects of this and other High Street issues were collected and published by the High School in June (details here)
Printed and completed copies of the questionnaire can be handed in to the Council service centre behind New World or posted to 3 Avalon Court Motueka. Online versions of the form can be emailed to Motueka Online, following these instructions:
