The Motueka "Boil Water" notice has been lifted
October 12th, 2010
[from Tasman District Council]
The "Boil Water" notice affecting the Motueka Town Water Supply has been lifted as of today Monday 12th October.
After four consecutive days of tests free of E. Coli, the Tasman District Council, with the agreement of the District Health Board, has lifted the notice.
Council said 11 days ago that it had been determined that the most likely source of contamination was from either an illegal tap into the system or a site with access to, and using, both a bore and town supply. Council undertook investigations within the Motueka Town Water Supply since then.
Monitoring will continue as usual throughout the Town Supply system, however. Residents connected to both the Town Supply and private sources, particularly those using bores, are requested to ensure their systems are working properly.
Residents who are unsure on how to check whether their system is functioning correctly can ring or email the Council for further advice on phone 03 543 8400 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
