Graphics students to help prepare Motueka Online

February 8th, 2010
By David Armstrong

Four Motueka High School 7th form students are working on graphics design elements for the Motueka Online website in preparation for its public launch.

Zara Jensen, Ashleigh Haycock, Laura Meuller and Kendyl Drummond have accepted the challenge, as part of their graphics design course and, under the guidance of teacher Peter Allan, to design and develop a logo, website banner, business card, advertising poster and letter head or other marketing material for this website, in preparation for its public launch in late March.

From the school's and the students' point of view, it's a real-life example of working with a business client to learn what the business needs and producing solutions and products that will do the job for the client. From Motueka Online's point of view, it provides yet another example of the way in which Motueka people can contribute to this community asset.

With four students working on the project, one result will be four website banners (the bit that runs across the top of each web page), which will be rotated week and week about to retain freshness of the site. The students will design a poster that will be displayed on all noticeboards around town informing residents about the new site and what it has to offer. Only one poster will actually finally be printed.
