High Street roadworks a problem for retailers
June 3rd
The ongoing roadworks have had a huge impact on the businesses at the southern end of the CBD as well as the entire town. Our Town Motueka is currently seeking an explanation and improvement to the situation and aims to keep us all informed.
Motueka Online welcomes any comments from readers, residents and businesses about how you have been affected and how the process could be speeded up. Click on the link below to submit your comments.

High St central road works. The word "works" - the action is slow, sometimes a non happening. Pot holes, steep drops, makes one wonder about the planning and management of the job.
How much is it costing? If the contractor is to charge by the day and make it last or paid by estimate contract, someone is making too big a profit or suffering a massive loss. Indirectly, we the people are paying for a long drawn out period of mourning. People standing round with pen and paper are big costs.
Modern gear is available but it seems to be the application of the work and little respect for our vehicles and us. I would hope that there is some very serious thinking and planning should any further work be considered. Possibly compensation for businesses as we avoid going to town.
