NZ Earth Hour Campaign

March 14th, 2010
From Lee Barry, Transition Towns Motueka

Earth Hour is coming up on Saturday 27 March at 8.30pm. It's a global occasion for communities to unite in one simple action - turning out their lights - to show the huge and growing support for action on issues of climate change and over consumption. Reaching over a billion people in 2009 its the world's largest mass-participation event ever.

As the leader of the New Zealand campaign and Transition Towns member I urge you all to :

  1. Take part - turn off your lights at 8.30pm on Saturday 27 March
  2. Encourage and engage others - no other environmental action is easier to communicate
  3. Be active in your community - check out the website (www.earthhour.org.nz) for Councils nationwide who have committed support - some of you are already working with them.

Also on the website you will find resources to download, print and distribute or display. We also have events listed on our Transition Towns website - you can add yours.
