The Motueka Men's Shed

The Motueka men's shed is a popular meeting place for a group of men who like to make things, help the community, and make friends. But we are still looking for a permanent home!

At the moment we meet at Weka House, courtesy of the Rec Centre, and we keep our tools in the back of the Rec Centre's bus garage. While it is a central venue, and a great place to hang out, there is very little room for projects.

Our most recent project was to make a 'resonance box', which will enable a local disabled child to experience a wide range of sights, sounds and textures. We have also mended tools for the Community Gardens, made items for the hospital, and done small maintenance tasks for the Rec Centre.

People in the community have given us tools and furniture, but we have run out of room and have had to turn down other offers of donations, as well as tasks that require space to complete them successfully.

So we are still searching for a more permanent home, a shed, or somewhere to build a shed, for very low rent, or in return for services rendered. Meanwhile we are enjoying each other's company, and we welcome new members at the Rec Centre garage on Wednesday mornings from 10am.
